My boot on my CV is bad. I wanted to see if anyone know where to get a split boot to put on it. I don't want to tear the axle out and don't really have the money to pay someone to do it. I know split boots suck and will leak, but I heard if you seal them with silicone or RTV then they will work just fine. Right now it clunks 1 time if you turn the wheel the whole way to the right. other than that it doesn't make any noise.
Split boots suck and will leak, regardless of how you seal them. If it's clunking, it's about to fail. Napa has remanufactured CV shafts with a LIFETIME warranty for around $50 plus core charge. On the shaft you get from Napa, if the boot ever even cracks, you take it in and get a new one.
