96 Grand Cherokee Tire Size

I was wondering whats the biggest tire i cant mount on my jeep stock with no lift and stock wheels. What do you also have for recomendations for tires? I need something that is good off road but dosnt wear really fast on road. I could care less about tire noise and such. Im not good with tire sizes.

Thanks,
James.

235/75TR15 BFG AT KO's are the way to go. I've got them on my '93 Limited and my daughter's '96 Laredo.

If you are not going to lift dont go with larger tire, it will actuly be worse off road. I think they are 27" stock you can go up to a 28 or 29 is pushing it a bit. If you are looking for a good cheap on road off road tire try yokohomma geolanders. They are awesome in the snow! and off road. However they are a bit soft and wont last for ever with on road driving but that is the price you pay for awesome grip. Also if anything on your jeep is out of alighment your it will snow up on these tires.

I have 30X9.5 BFG AT's on my 96 (the one in the foreground) with no lift. I don't know what that translates into in actual inches, but it is noticebly larger (especially width) than the 235 75 R15's on my Woody.

yes you can clean 30's on stock suspension but you will prob have issues when off roading when under flex even with the sway bar connected. If are not going to lift it stay with stock or close to stock tires.

stock rim size is 225/70/16's and the biggest you can run with no rubbing and normal driving is 245/70/16's. I run 255/70/15's for summer and 245/70/16's (both with 4"bs) for winter.
