95 zj infinity speakers

I have the infinity gold sound system in my 95 zj with pretty much every door speaker blown (i was that way when I bought it unfortunately). From my last car I had a pair of 6.5" rockford fosgate speakers sitting around that were still in the box.

After hooking up one speaker in the driver door----nothing, so I thought maybe I crossed the + and -, well still nothing.

Is there a certain speaker that MUST be put in with the infinity sound system? If I don't have to I'd like to put something in that's not a paper cone yet decently cheap.

The amp is designed for 2 ohm speakers but it should be able to drive the voice coil on any speaker.

I installed Sony X-plode 6.5" speakers in mine. I'm pleased.....only the Sonys are slightly smaller. I could only put 2 screws where the originals had 3.
