Not sure how much it would cost. Lot of work. I'd replace the oil pump and clean the pickup tube screen while I was in there.

Probably a few hours by someone that knows what they are doing. I would guess around 3 bills+ if you paid someone to do it. It's not hard to do yourself if you have the time and tools.

You need to remove the starter, exhaust pipe, the pan, oil pump, then the bearing cap. Then put it all back together.

only place around I know of is the stealership. if it were under 5 bills Id say I do it, the rest of the heep is in good condition.

still pondering ... The friend mechanic that I took it to said if it were him the thing is worth fixing, if I was gonna sell soon I could try one of the newer stop leak treatments..

I just want to build it up... oh the money

K-D Tools KD 492 Oil-Seal Remover and Installer

The K-D Tools KD 492 is a Oil-Seal Remover and Installer. This oil seal remover and installer removes and installs upper rear main oil seals with engine and crank-shaft in place. It works on both wick and neoprene type seals.

I need to do this at some point but it seems like a can of worms on my 200K ZJ

thanks for that link, I would never attempt this myself, but that info will go along way when looking for the right price. I will ask for the oil pump too.

I really appreciate all the great advice!!!

I suppose Im looking at 500 bones. darn that will put off a bumper setup from KOR 4 awhile.

That is a great writeup by Aprilzwarrior. One thing he didn't mention is to prime the motor before you start it. Pull the coil wire off so she won't start. Then crank the motor until you get oil pressure. Now reconnect the coil and start the motor. It takes awhile, so you need a strong battery.

Mine has leaked since I put the motor in. The dumb engine wont die and that is what it will take for me to replace the seal. I would rather spend the money in other ways but that is just me. Throw some cardboard on the garage floor and get the new bumper!
