95 Grand Cherokee...sweet smell...coolant light..etc..
My girlfriends 95 grand cherokee was puttin out that sweet smell a couple times today. Then as I was on the phone with her the low coolant light came on. When she got home she said it was smoking.
Its dark out so she didnt know where it was coming from or the color of the smoke. Those symtoms alone make me think blown head gasket but its hard to tell since I cant check it out personally. Is there anything else it could possibly be?? Ive had a bunch of cherokee's but no grand cherokee's. I dont know what problems they had. Thanks in advance...

Don’t drive it until you can refill it and test it in the daylight. Start the engine and start looking. It should be obvious. The leak could be from many things

Don't trip dude. It's just a anti-freeze leak. If the smell is from inside then probally heater core. Did the windows fog up?

Sweet smell etc., check the...
The Zaz, check the oil, if it is foamy or brown in color it might be a head
gasket, if not, it couild be just the water pump ! Check the coolant level & refill if needed, start the Jeep & look under the front, if coolant starts to leak (your lucky) it's probably the water pump ! My '98 water pump cost to replace w/ pump, around $350... Good luck... |

Could also be the radiator. They rot out at the bottom. Mine crapped out two months ago. Bought a new one for $170 and slapped it in in about an hour. Did the waterpump about 2 years ago. They usually don't give much (if any) warning-just spill their guts and go.

I would normally say heater core as well, but he said that it was smoking. Therefore when an engine over-heats and smokes the steam-anitfreeze vapor fills the engine compartment and creeps out from all sides including by the windshield where the intake for the HVAC is. This will suck in the stinky smells and transfer it to the heater squirrel cage and then everyone says pee-yuu
