'95 GC Ltd A/C compressor replacement

What engine/years are interchangeable with the '95 5.2L? Would it be possible for me to get an A/C Compressor off of a 4.7L? Or am I going to have to stick with the 5.2 of a 97-98, or whatever I can find?

you shouldn't have a problem locating 5.2L AC compressor. They go for around $400-450 new to $250-350 for reman. unit(with clutch assembly)

What makes you suspect the comp. is bad?

The reason I think the compressor is bad is because the clutch on it is completely frozen and is now melted to high hell.

I know I can find a new/rebuilt compressor, but I can't afford to spend that much. A Junkyard tear-off is my only option, which is why I asked if I could take one from a different motor.

I'll have to check the big junk yards 20-30 miles away to see if they've got a 5.2.

replace the clutch... if it's burned up... chances are the compressor is still good.

Here's what I do when I check for "compatibility" issues:

1) Fire up google
2) Search for a site that sells the part in question (AC Compressor in this case)
3) Put in your vehicle information
4) Write down the part #
5) Start changing the vehicle information (I6, 4.7L, WJ, XJ, TJ, etc)
6) Check if part # is the same -- if it's the same, they are compatible

For better results, try this on multiple sites. If they all agree, it's unlikely for them to all be wrong.

You now know what engines/vehicles to look at when looking for a used part.
