93' grand cherokee laredo axle noise? help

I have 1993 grand Cherokee Laredo that has recently just had the front end replaced. The gears, ring and pinion, and axles were replaces all at the same time. ran fine for about month now there is a loud knocking noise (ill try to be as descriptive as possible). When i get on the gas everything is fine when i let off it starts to knock mostly on the drivers side it feels. when i brake it stops until i let off the brakes again. I jacked it up and it feels there is slake when i turn the tire by hand, feels like there is slop but i don't wanna tear it all apart without some advice.

What would you do first? problem checklist i guess. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Check if the brake pads are properly shimmed. XJ's, ZJ's, and TJ's are notorious for wearing out the pad rails on the knuckle. If there's too much clearance, the pads can move up and down making a loud and annoying knocking sound.
