93 5.2L transmission fluid question

I checked the FAQ and searched, but couldn't find my answer right away. Quick question, I think.

I dropped the tranny pan and changed the fluid and filter. I added 5 quarts total and it reads low in neutral after driving 25 miles this morning. The manual says to add 4 quarts. I'm just wondering how much fluid is typically added after a filter change. Checking in park (like my Chilton's manual says) it reads fine. But, I guess it's actually supposed to be checked in neutral. I really don't want to overfill the thing and kill it. It has a cooler, if that makes a difference.

read in "n".

a pan drop will take anywhere from 4-7 quarts. start with 4 and keep checking till you get to the full line when following proper check procedure. (hot, in neutral, on a level surface.)
