This may be a dumb question but, does that mean zj pads would fit in 8.8 calipers?

There seems to be some debate on this point. JohnnyZJ did an 8.8 swap and reported the ZJ calipers would not fit.

1994 5.9L ZJ, retrofitted UC package, NP242 swap, 17" JK Moabs with 32" BFG MT KM's.

Yeah, I think we tried the stuff off a 35 and a 44a, neither fit.

yes. rotors did work.

calipers did not bolt up.

just get an 8.8 with them already, or buy new ones. i think all new brakes ran me 150$. oh well, i have new rear brakes.

The 8.8 i have had exactly the same part number calipers.
I used my 44a backing plates and hardware though as the 8.8 stuff was too rough.

'97 zj 5.2, some stuff, some other suff, and some things that even work sometimes.

so which way is it?

Or is this a situation where the 96-98 Zj stuff will cross over and the pre-96 models were different?

tell ya what. mine physically didn't fit. stock D35 calipers were hanging there. didn't fit. neither did the 44a. i had those too

i had D44a backing plates because i read it on here. they weren't close to fitting. i would have had to redrill the mounting holes and ream out the middle; it didn't even fit over the flange. i hit the JY and grabbed 8.8 plates.

frankly i don't care what part numbers say anymore. i did everything by this damn website and none of it worked. maybe i'm just retarded. thats possible. but none of it bolted up, and the ford calipers were definitely different than teh jeep ones i had.

maybe theres a difference between Canadian and American jeep parts. all i know is, if i'm gonna do something i just dive right in and figure it out.

i'm not saying Ratmonkey is wrong; i'm just saying none of it worked for me. and IF the interwebs advice you get is wrong, you have to figure it out on your own.

take it for whats its worth.

Different year 8.8 axles wouldn't make a difference?

I guess you missed the bit about having to ream the bore out and drill the holes right.

I used the 44a backing plate/dust shield and the cast mount/slide piece from the 8.8 because it had smaller divots.

Used the zj calipers, ebrake, rotor, etc.

Unless your ZJ brakes were new I wouldn't bother. I think it cost me something like $150 for new calipers, pads, rotors and soft lines.
