ok so i have been saving and have 500 bucks this week to upgrade the ol zj. so far i rebuilt the t case with a new vc and 5 treadwright crawler tires all new brakes and synthetic fluid flushes.
im living in fort myers fl, here there is alot of sand and mud. my build path for the jeep is an expedition jeep so the first thing on my list would be a snorkel( i addressed traction so where to now) but then again a lift would be nice so i have the matching flex of the new tires wheeling capacity.
i think i should just save 1 grand so i dont have to buy one upgrade and spend the money on a better one later.
my main point is at the moment im not looking for axel swaps or long project ideas just bolt on kits that will really help wheeling capability and can be done in a weekend on my lift(im assuming most will suggest a lift)

Sliders. JCR Stage ones are fairly cheap.
Ebay snorkel 150-175 bucks
RC Winch plate, and a winch. Rugged Ridge 8500# winch is like $260 shipped some places.
All I can think of at the moment.

Revamp cooling system. Check all mechanical/electrical functions before diving off into exploratory mode.

^ sounds like a good move along w/a new fan clutch and one of these.
the snorkel is my #1 thought. how long would a rear locker take and is my factory rear axel worth dropping a locker into? since its an expediton jeep i have gone through and done ALL needed repairs and maintenance to build on solid ground. im not an expert when it comes to jeeps so i dont know if its worth building my rear end if ill need to swap it later, i know my 249 t case will be good untill im runnning bigger than 32's so im not worried about that

249 is still good above 32" tires. What rear end do you have?

Gift card for me

What size tires did you buy? That's going to determine how much lift you need to accommodate them.

A snorkel is cool. But make sure your transmission is sealed and vented properly. If not, then your transmission will be an issue before your air box.
I'd put a locker in, especially if you already have a d44a. And a tranny cooler. Then save your money for a list or winch.

so far i went factory size just to keep things simple.the trans is all sealed as well as t case. i have a massive trans cooler from a way bigger diesel truck so temps are always cool. i also just finished the durango air hat mod

Lol where did you hear that tire size matters with a 249?

I'd Aussie locker the rear. Can make a huge difference in the endless sugar sand around here. If you just got new stock size tires maybe go with a 2" BB and some quality shocks.
