Are you talking about the harmonic balancer?

It only goes on so far. Double check that it's lined up with the rest of the pulleys.

Dont know about the 5.9, but I just replaced mine on the 4.0 last week. There is a tiny bit of damper sticking out over the end of the crankshaft, at the bolt location, when it's done. I wanted mine flush, too....but it wasnt going to happen. I bought my damper from the dealer, so it's the correct one.

Yup I did the crank pulley is aligned with the water pump pulley. I was informed on the dodge forum that the 5.9 balancer doesn't go flush with seal. I just rebuilt my 5.9 so it's sitting on the engine stand only have the water pump on. thanks polka

I would just replace it with a new one since you have access to it. The new one is updated.

Ditto.

Mine started coming apart when the ZJ was loaded down for a coastal fishing trip, while in the drive thru window at the bank. I was thankful it didnt happen on the Interstate between nowhere and somewhere. Luckily, the dealer had ONE in stock. ( and no...it wasnt cheap) Needless to say, my trip was delayed a 1/2 day.

I got mine from Kolak. I believe it was less than 100 bucks.
