5.9 swap Q's

Are 5.2 and 5.9 GC exhaust manifolds the same?

Do 5.9 GC's have the same restricting exhaust as the 5.2 GC?

Any tips to make this swap go as smooth as possible? (5.2 out yesterday)

5.2 and 5.9 manifolds are the same. There are (93 or 94, not sure?) stock manifolds that flow better, but are probably not worth your time to track down and swap.

5.9 tailpipe is 2.75", but is not mandrel bent. Get a Kolak tailpipe instead.

yes, exactly the same

Ask Kolak about the exhaust. I know the niner is bigger.

What are you swapping in?

I've got a 2002 RAM 5.9 complete with everything you see here and more.

Is there a problem with the starter being on the driver side in the ram 5.9 when swapping these?

I recently replaced the drivers side motor mount so I don't want to replace it again. I read somewhere that it can be modified. Is this true? If so, what do I need?

I had planned on using my stock transmission unless someone has made one of these work?

Easy, nothing to worry about...all you need is washers or more preferably some round hollow stock.

yeah, step out the mount with washers, you'll see what you need to do once you get it in there.

as for the dodge tranny, here's your list of parts to make it work.

hedman tight tubes block hugger headers. no other header will work with no modifications and no manifold will work period. the sanderson block huggers work with frame notching, there are no others that work.
custom y-pipe
relocate starter wires
dodge or fully custom tranny mount
if using dodge tranny mount, custom crossmember, if using custom tranny mount use your stock cross member or custom if you like.
novak shifter or custom shifter brackets for the tcase.
preferrably the dodge tcase that came with it, don't know the input shaft length that dodge may have run.

I am just finishing up my 4.0-5.2 swap, was your 5.2 worn out? Why are you replacing? When I was researching before my swap I found the 5.9 was obviously better, but not worth my non existant "extra" college kid money.

It was a lot easier to actually lower the engine into the jeep with the front tires flattened...more room and then we lowered it through the motor mounts. With the egine lower than the mounts, you have much more room to run wires, tighten those irritating little bolts and connect vacum lines. Then lift it up and bolt her up. I didn't have to remove the radiator at all.

I did replace all seals (new motor came with them). I bought a replacement radiator from Oreilly's...great deal. Before you go to crank it up, PM me and we'll talk.
