is a 5.9 driveshaft interchangable

Will a 98 5.9 front driveshaft mate up with my 5.2 set up? Both have quadradrive and both have the cv axle.

Firstly, the OP was from 5 years ago and was asking about a front drive shaft, not a rear.

The 5.9L rears used a 1330 U-joint, while the 5.2 and 4.0 used a 1310 joint. You can use a 1310-1330 hybrid conversion U-joint to fit your 5.2 drive shaft to the 5.9 rear end.

hey ya sorry about that, didnt mean to sound like an ***.

Where do i get that u joint? I went to my local parts store Lordco, we found the ujoint that is used in the 5.9 rear driveshaft. Anyways i picked it up but it is too big for my rear driveshaft, so i suppose obviously it is made for the thicker driveshaft.
so when u say hybrid conversion u joint what is this, is it specialy made for this purpose??? more info please thanks

Yes. Same shaft length and connections. Installed one a few days ago.

Basically the hybrid joint has two 1310-size ears to go into the 5.2 drive shaft, and two 1330-size ears to go into the 5.9 D44A yoke. They're not a wholly uncommon thing, Lordco ought be able to order one in if they don't already have one in stock.
