4WD Conversion: choosing front axle

How do I have a 2WD Jeep in the first place, you might ask? Last year I had my 3" kit and control arms already ordered ($1500+ spent) when I recieved the word that she was not 4WD. My mother (genius blonde) falsely informed me it was 4WD. Anyway, onto the thread.
My grandaddy will be helping me, and this is a very extended build. I don't have anytime to build it this summer so when this will be finished is unsure.
I will have a tranny lined up soon enough, and driveshafts are relatively cheap and easy to find for the jeep. I know what is involved and this is a definite plan.

Anyway, getting to what is the only important thing:

I have yet to choose a front axle. I could go for a stock set up and find a relatively well built 30, or I could go for a 44 front. As with the 2WD models, I have a 44 rear, not positive if its 44A, but I would guess that it is.
The 44 sounds like a better set up, seeing that JK's run front and rear 44's stock.

What do you all suggest? Any known problems with a 44 front setup?

Yes it's a 44a rear. Just an FYI, it's a lot easier just to sell your current ZJ and buy a 4wd one. But if you must insist to swap in an axle, I would go with a HP d30 or HP d44 if you plan on going bigger than 33/35's (depending on how hard you wheel it).

MEH. This i know, people. I've seen plenty of threads of noobies asking if a 4wd conversion is worth it and you all saying it's better to just buy a new heep. If you had read my explanation, you would see that I have spent quite enough on this jeep already. A solid conversion will only be just over one grand anyway.

Then, again, a hp d30 will be your best bet.

Thanks. I was talking to the other poster, who so generously went on about my beating a dead horse.
