46RH Trans in 1996 ZJ?

I have a 1996 ZJ Limited with 162,000 miles. It will drive for about a mile and then won't move in any gear. Looked at the trans model and first two letters are RH. I thought 1996 through 1998 models came with 44RE. Is it possible that a 1995 model trans (46RH) was installed in my 1996 at factory?

Will a bad governor pressure solenoid and sensor be a possible cause of my problem?

Where are you seeing "RH" as the trans model? You are correct to assume that it should be a 44RE and that a 46RH being installed would be extremely unlikely in a 1996.

No, and a 46rh is hydraulic so it doesn't have a gov trans solenoid.

Yup, 52119108 is the part number for a 44RE. No transmission swap shenanigans here!

Would there be any issues with installing a 1998 trans that had a 5.2L. Would the electronics be same?

If it's the same build should be fine. So 44 re is what you have now. Get another 44re and you're good

Checked the codes and have P0740 which is torque converter. Is the TC solenoid valve accessible if pan is removed? Is it advisable to change this valve and see if trans is salvageable?

What rebuild kits are recommended for 44RE? Is TransGo shift kit the way to go also?
