ZJ 5.2 46RH with 142K miles. I was wondering if someone could tell me how reliable this transmission is beyond 150K.

It has started leaking at the joint where it meets the tranny case. anyone know how to fix this leak? I have not had any problems with shifts so far. it seems to be fairly smooth. I changed fluid and filter 10K miles ago and the fluid is in fair condition- no bubbles, still bright pink and strong smell and such.

what would be some symptoms of tanny going bad? wat else can i do to make it last for a while? how can i fix that (seal?) leak?

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... and what is the best way to post pics in here? photobucket link or can i upload pictures direct in the forums?

thanks in advance

shashank

ah screw the search

Its the rear tranny seal. $11 at Napa. The transfer case needs to come out.

At your mileage, there is a chance that something caused that seal to fail.

thanks for the reply five nien.

do you know of any writeups on here about replacing the rear tranny seal? what could have caused it and what kinda problems can i expect in the future? does it need immediate replacement or will i be fine..if i keep watching tranny fluid levels?

also, i am a little confused, (since this is leaking at the seal)......is this fluid leaking out of transmission or is it leaking out of the transfer case? in other words...do i need to check fluid levels in the tranny case?(drain/fill)

thanks
