I have an extra 4rh trans that i would like to put in my wifes GC. Her 42re trans is a piece of junk. I don't want to pull it apart to find out that it doesn't bolt up or wont shift. Will the torque converters bolt up or can I reuse the 42re converter? Both trans are out of 93 GC's. The wifes has a 4.0 and the donor trans was behind a 5.2. Any info would be appreciated

Anyone know off the top of their head what internal parts are upgraded from a 42 to a 44?
Been since 2002 since I left the business so bear with me.
I would say check the planetaries for more pinion gears, overdrive clutch capacity for more clutches. You can order the pressure plates and clutches to build it up to the 618 series, but that may be overkill for a 4.0L. It's all in what you want to spend. Definelty check the radiator cooler for proper flow and add an external cooler after the out line of the radiator cooler.
If you do the shift kit, make sure to follow the instructions in detail. Get those bands adjusted properly.
Do you have an ATSG manual to refer too? It will help.
