4.slow...

Ohh so ya went to go pick some people up down in the valley... And they were all commenting on how nice the jeep is. So i head home with the AC on because its hot as you know what out side, and when we started going up that summit with the 5 of us in the jeep and the AC on along with elevation it was as slow as a 4 banger... I was so emberresed... sorry i had to share my pain with people who understand. I REALLY WISHED I GOT THE V8.

I am surprised. I've had a ton of weight in my ZJ w/ the 4.0 (people, moving back and forth from school, etc.) and never had a problem like this. Maybe it's time for a tuneup? Or try turning off the Overdrive next time and see what she does.

no it would just a lot of shifting, at times i would have to floor it just to keep it at 50. And let me tell you the tranny matted with the 4.0 does not shift smooth AT ALL.

Probably needs a tune up...it shouldnt have any problem unless you were pulling a 5,000 trailer aside from having it loaded up with stuff/people.

If you take it out of OD it will do fewer odd shifts, it will stay near the peak HP rpm and will do better...

My 4.0 has always performed well, granted its not like my new 4.7, but hauling up to 1200lbs of stuff, and people, although no a/c it did just fine.

gears are more for around town but its funny to put cruise control on and hear the tranny keep dropping it into the passing gear revving rediculously trying to get you up the steep grades. i have stop and go boston traffic so thats no fun also with the 42re at 170+K
