4.0 Header replacement by KOSPEED

http://www.ebay.com/itm/91-99-JEEP-G...e46838&vxp=mtr

For the money, it's hard to not want to try these guys...but I don't know anything about them. Anyone tried them? They are $100 less than the Pacesetter header, but I'd like to not have to spend that money 2x.

Looks good. Same price as APN but this is ceramic coated and includes gasket.

Too good to be true?

These are all the things I was thinking also...but I'm a major skeptic...i also found another on there that's the same thing and roughly the same price....I may have to invest in the spring as part of my "tune up".

I have these foir my zj. the collector hits the motor mount so you have to "modify" it with a hammer a bit. Does not come with a metal gasket and smelled like spray paint when I got it. Also smoked a bunch for the first 20 minutes after install. Stiill happy with it. Took off the cat also and put a flowmaster superr 44 where the cat is and ran a side pipe sounds pretty sweet. Not too loud and has a rice grumble to it.

Does it appear to be a real powder coat? Or you think they just painted it?

I had been planning to get the APN and have a local shop powder coat it. That way I am guaranteed it is quality work but it is obviously an added (significant) cost.

As I understand it the coating helps retain the heat in the pipes rather than radiating into the engine bay. Especially important on the 4.0 with the intake sitting right on top of the exhaust pipes.

I plan to also powder coat the intake manifold to further insulate it as well.

I hope you mean ceramic coat as powder coat will not withstand the temperature of the exhaust manifold. There is also Jet Hot coating and Swaintech, but they are $$$$.

I am thinking.on getting an exhaust header for my next investment because my exhaust is in need of replacment and I got the major oil leaks sorted out. What would be a good one to go with and what size exhaust shoult I go with?

Pretty much any header off ebay will work. Anything is better than a cracked manifold. I put one on in the spring, and I've still had no problems with it. If anyone is interested in seeing what it looks like, go to the link in my siggy.

This^

I worked at a place as a powdercoater for 3 years and ceramic coated a little bit there.

Powdercoating will burn off of the exhaust manifold. Ceramic is what you want.

Ive seen a install writeup somewhere with an ebay manifold, all you have to watch for is the collector not being clocked the right way, sometimes they will hit the motor mount or something like that. That definitly looks like cheap spray on paint not ceramic coating.
