Tubes are thin not worth the money.

There is a guy by me with jk d44s out of a Rubicon under his zj. I'm not sure what else he's done to them but they're locked and he runs 35s on bead locks. I really don't know why he went through the trouble and I feel like just getting them would be extremely expensive to even get your hand on.

I think it would be okay for 33s, Idk for sure. But I've been watching for ideas and figured I'd throw that in

Is there a final solution to the 33s problem? Unless you have unlimited funds compromises will have to be made.

Yes there are lots of swap options. But your LP D30 and a D44a out of a V8 is perfectly fine for 33s. and CHEAP.

This will work especially if you go with light 33s and alloy wheels. 33" Duratracs weigh 49#s. 33" MTR/K weigh 60#s. Combine the MTR with a steel wheel and thats a ton of weight, combine the Duratrac with something like a Mickey Thompson Classic II that weighs 17lbs, and its super light.

Spend a little on alloy shafts down the road to give you peace of mind.

We've thrown out tons of options, update us when you make a decision.

hi, if you are talking with me, no they aren't broken, stock gears and i don't have 33s...but i'd like to for 33s WITH lokers.

Aussie locked d44a and wheel the lpd30 until you break it. If you have the 249 tcase I wouldn't put a locker up front if you're going to be doing a lot of on road driving. Swap out the 249 for a 242 then lunchbox the front.

thanks guys, next days i'm hoping to complete the 242 swap...i almost ordered it, i hope next week to to the swap.

i'm asking because a coulple of days ago i broke something about the front d30...i think a joint, or a coupling...i'm not sure what the translation is. To be clear is the "last part" of the axle, the one inside the rubber...or maybe the axle itself broke. Next week i'll go to my mechanic.

btw now i'm running some iron rims (very heavy) and some re-covered 225-70-16 mud tires (very heavy too).

what should i do?

Mark, I think you have CV joints in the axle. Problems with them are common, some people think that u-joint axle shafts are stronger.

The top is a u-joint style. I think you are describing the lower one.

If you have a chance to upgrade, throw in some Ujoint axles. They are stronger and can be rebuilt easily.

mmm i'm talking about all 2, not only the front.

this idea came out when i red that some guy put under his wj 4.7 d44s from a jk (maybe rubicon?...i dont know)

A D44 in the rear and an LP30 will wheel 33's with some common sense and finesse. An hp 30 is stronger though.

When I get around to it I will probably go with the D44a in the back. Not sure about the front yet? Do you put the D44 in the front?
