249 to 242 conversion
Well I read Swampboys threads and tried the conversion today,it went pretty much flawlessly except trying to get the shift rod out of the 242 case to change the input shaft (took some time and a lttle help from the pry bar) all is good ....now I have a one wheel wonder, we will see if mileage goes up and a little less wear and tear on the rest of the parts.
All in all it took about 7 hours to accomplish this but i think it will be worth it. also if anyone is intrested I have a good VC if anyone needs one, not looking to make any money, so if someone needs a VC let me know I will send it out for just the shipping charges. (just trying to help some fellow JEEPERS out ![]()

Were you able to re-use your 249 shifter assembly or did you need something from the 242 equipped Jeep?
edit: I found the answer in another thread, you don't need to change the shifter. The bezel can be changed if you want. Last edited by Upside; 07-31-2007 at 01:04 AM.. |
