231 swap into 96zj 5.2 249

so i went to go swap my 2000 XJ 231 into my 1996 zj 5.2 249. and everything slides perfectly into place but my rear driveshaft the 2000 xj rear driveshaft is way to short and my zj driveshaft is about 2 inches to long. so what rear driveshaft do i need? im so dumbfounded because i read on here that the xj driveshaft would drop right in and everything was a direct swap. someone please lead me in the right direction.. thank you

I've never seen that an xj ds will fit. they have a shorter wheel base with a longer trans and engine combo...

Have yours cut down where it needs to be. Most shops charge about 75$ for that service.

^ What he said. Cost me exactly $75 the last time I shortened my driveshaft.

Alright so ill need to have my driveshaft shortened like 2 and a half inches. Correct?

And the only reason I thought the xj shaft would work is because on the thread it said you'll need the rear driveshaft from the doner vehicle. But its all good

Thanks for the help though.

Might need this info as well depending on what 231 I get for mine! Let me know what you had yours cut down to and how it fits!
