225/75/15 Vs. 245/75/16 Tires

My stock wheels were the 225/75/15 tires, and today I got some 245/75/16 tires.

Here is my question. My speedometer is off +5 mph. When my speedometer says that I am doing 70 mph, my Garmin GPS says that I am doing 75 mph. Is there a way to correct for that?

Get your speedometer re-calibrated if it bugs you. You could just remember that you're going 5 mph faster than your speedo says, but I understand why someone would want it changed.

How would you go about getting the speedometer re-calibrated?

Ok I was wondering the same thing so I went to jjeeps and checked on the tire section, The results are this 225/75/16 and 245/75/16 will make your speed slower than you are going ie 60 at the 225 and 58 at the 245, now if you want the same speed which I am going to do is go with the 245/70/16 and there will be no difference. you can check this out for yourself under wheels section hope this helps...

Well that info is wrong.. go to Tire Size Calculator - Discount Tire Direct

for tire 1 enter 225/75/15 and tire 2 enter 245/75/16... You can enter your speed you want to travel and it will compare tire 1 to tire 2

And yesterday at 60 mph with my OEM tires I was doing about 59 or so.. Then when I put the 245/75/16s on. At 60 mph my GPS said I was doing 64 mph - 65 mph
