2000 WJ limited: spun a pinion bearing! Rebuild axle or replace it?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I believe I spun the rear pinion bearing in my front axle. Its in a 2000 WJ limited with the quasi-track II. Whats involved in a rebuild? Do I need special tools? How do I confirm by properly troubleshooting? Where can I go for guidance in doing the job? I have a shop manual, but its calling for special tools. Best place to purchase parts for it? Much thanks for any input!

replacing the bearing is a pretty good task...i've never done it but im pretty sure you're gonna have to remove the inner parts of the axle ( gears, carrier etc) to get access to the pinion gear/bearing...im not sure whats involved beyond that if you're gonna have to reset your gear pattern or what...

hopefully others will chime in good luck

you have to remove the hubs/axle shafts so you can pull the carrier
