2000 4.7 engine code help
Hi everyone,
I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee with a 4.7 engine with 70,000 miles and it now runs a little rough. It might run good one day and then terrible the next, the main symptoms are poor idle, heitatation and bucking. I have pulled the codes and they are as follows. 0202 0204 0206 0207 Anybody else ever see the same thing? All codes seems to be tied to the injector control circuit but what does that mean? Is there a quick fix? Any info would be appreciated, Thanks Jeff

Here you go:
http://www.wjjeeps.com/faultcodes.htm#DTC P0202 (M) Injector # 2 Control Circuit An open or shorted condition detected in control circuit for Injector # 2 or the INJ 2 injector bank. P0204 (M) Injector # 4 Control Circuit Injector # 4 or INJ 4 injector bank output driver stage does not respond properly to the control signal. P0206 (M) Injector # 6 Control Circuit Injector # 6 output driver stage does not respond properly to the control signal. P0207 (M) Injector # 7 Control Circuit Injector # 7 output driver stage does not respond properly to the control signal. Sounds like a trip to the stealership to me...Sounds like your injectors aren't getting a cood signal to tell them what to do. Never experienced this problem myself, hopefully someone can give you some idea. Good Luck.

If anyone has been working under the hood lately, I would suspect some injector connectors/wires got messed up.
Otherwise, I would suspect that the crankshaft position sensor (a.k.a. CPS or CKP sensor) is going bad. If it fails completely, the engine won't start. If its operation is erratic, then it causes problems like you see. The sensor is not expensive and replacement is a DIY job. Another candidate is the camshaft position sensor (a.k.a. CMP sensor). Its operation is much like that of the CKP sensor and can operate erratically without complete failure or throwing a code. This sensor is not expensive and replacement is a DIY job a little more difficult than the CKP. The most expensive candidate would be trouble with the PCM which would require its replacement. Maybe other responders will have some additional ideas.

It has on ocasion cranked a little longer than it should. It hasn't done that lately but it did start that before these other issues stated. That thing always did turn over and start quickly so I did notice when I had the extended crank time. The last 2 days the chk eng lite is out and it runs great, so it is intermitent. I had a 92 with a 4.0 that had the CKP completely quit so I have experienced the joy of replacing that one. I think I may try the CKP sensor. Is aftermarket OK or would you go OEM?

I favor Mopar (OEM) sensors. Aftermarket will usually work, at least for a while, but some give trouble in the long run.
