if you haven't already ,put more fuel in the tank.
the pump slide up and down a few inches so it will remain in contact with the bottom of the tank. it may be stuck at the top. A 1" or 2" from the bottom. the plastic tank expands and contracts.

Thus not sucking fuel... Bad filter.. It's underneath above the left tire area.

wow i thought 230k was alot of miles lol... you got me beat!

the jeep will still run even with a dirty filter since there is the sock on the pickup, the pressure will still force enough gas through to run but it just wont run as good

Look for some fuel pressure... I don't know where the Schrader Valve is on a 5.2 Liter. On the 4.0 it's super easy to find Front & Center. Short answer is if you turn it to run (No Cranking it) for 30 seconds then unscrew the cap and push down the dimple of the schrader valve it should give you a little burp of fuel. IF it does then you can eliminate a whole bunch of issues. If you get nothing then it could be a bad pump or at least a bad fuse. Typically bad filters will cause insufficient flow and make if cough and wheeze at freeway speeds. Also Throw on a new coil... If it is "ALMOST" dead some starting fluid will miss lead you in to thinkging it's not an ignition issue.

I'm not a mechanic put I play one on the internet...

I Want $200 Jeep too! I'm about to spend 7 X that on new tires for both of my WJ & WK

The pump does not move once installed. The pump housing is spring loaded. When installing the pump it gets compressed from its original extended length. This is so it is constantly forced onto the bottom of the tank and also so that it can be used with different gas tank designs (like Dodge gas tanks)

It's been so long since I learned that lesson I forgot it. Took me about 3 weeks to come up with that info when I was about 16 years old. My foot was sore from kicking my ol 71 chev truck.

maybe I missed the point here..
you paid $200 for a non-running Jeep.

what's the issue?

oh!!.. you expected it to run for $200 !!!!? HAHAHA.. sigh, that's a funny one.

i paid $6000 for mine and it doesn't run, so I don't see why yours should run for $200

Laugh all you want but i DO have a $200 RUNNING ZJ... and it cost nothing to get it running.. all we did was reset the alarm

It runs great! tho we did find the reason to it originally being at the junkyard... front axle is toast... pinion flops all over the place. no problem, i wanted to swap a HP D30 in there anyways
