2" Lift Questions.... Wheels and Tires Questions Too!!!
Ok I have some questions. First off what size are the stock wheels? I think they are 16x8 or 16x9? And when I bought the Jeep the tires that are on there now are 225/65 or 75/16...
So if I do a 2" lift (don't really want to go bigger) what is the biggest tire that I can fit using my stock wheels? Remember the tire needs to be the same diameter as the OEM tires. I see that everyone seems to liket eh BFGs A/T tires??? Whats so special about them? While we are talking about wheels, I really like the WJs wheels. If i get a set, are those directly a bolt on item? What is the bolt pattern for a ZJ and WJ? Are they both a 5x4.5???? Thanks

1) I think the ZJ would be a 16x7.
2) You can't install a bigger tire, and have it be the same diameter as the OEM tires. Speaking of which, why do you want them the same diameter? To answer what I think you're really asking, with a 2" lift, the easiest tire to fit on there would be a 245/75-16. 3) Everyone likes BFG AT's because they aren't horribly expensive (not cheap though), last a long time, look aggressive, work well when 4-wheeling and in snow, etc... 4) No, WJ wheels won't fit. 5) WJ's are 5x5, ZJ's are 5x4.5 HTH

1) Yah i thought maybe the stock wheels were either a 16x7 or 16x8 2) When I say same diameter, I mean close to OEM.. For instance on my 2002 Trans Am, OEM tires are 245/50/16 with a diameter of 25.65. I am running 275/40/17 (fronts) and 315/35/17 (rears) the 275 tire is 25.66 diameter and the 315/35/17 tire has a diameter of 25.68... So you can run a bigger tire being the same (or really close) to an OEM tire diameter. The reason you want the diameter the same is bc it won't throw off you speedometer. 3) I may have to get me some BFGs A/T tires.. Like you said they look good and I am sure handle well on wet/dry pavements? Ok another question. What size tire comes on a 1998 JGCLaredo? Like I said I bought it with a 225/65 or 75/16 tire... I wanted to know what is the biggest tire that can fit on a 7" or 8" rim since we are not sure what size it is. And I will prolly do a BB 2" lift Thanks for the help ![]() EDIT: doing a search on discount tires website... OEM tires are 225/70/16 |

Ok, I'll try and say this in a different way.
You can't run a bigger tire and have it be the same diameter. That is like saying you want an orange in a different color, but it has to look the same as it normally does. Do you mean a wider tire? In your ZJ you can replace a tiny gear in the transfer case to compensate for the larger tires and thus, make your speedometer correct once again. The stock size tire is probably a 235/75-16 or about a 30" tire...of course different tire manufacturers actual sizes come out +/- that value.

Some have 16's, some have 15's. He said he is currently running 16" rims which I am assuming are the stock ones.

I have owned BFG's before and now I am going to put on Duratracs. 245-75-16 load range 'C'. Supposed to be an amazing tire, check out the thread on the this forum. I am running OME HD springs with MX6 adjustables. If you need shocks and springs, contact Kolak on the board he will get it all together for you.

I am running 225/75/15 So then the new questions arise.. What size is the stock 15" rim? And on a 2" lift whats the widest tire I can run? |

Most tires meant for a 15" wheel are measured in SAE - ie you could fit a 31x10.5" tire on there, or a 30x9.5" if you wanted something closer to stock.
