2 Build sheet questions

It says that i have a security system, is there any way to tell? Mine didnt have the remote when i got it back in december so i really dont know. Also does all the I-6 have the low emission vehicle rating? Mine has it on the build sheet and was just wondering.

Here is how you can tell if you ahve security system... OPen the passanger door and get in. Lock it with the remote from the inside and close the passanger door. Then wait and reopen the pass door without un-locking it... that should trip the security system.

He doesn't have a remote "Mine didnt have the remote when i got it".
If you lock it from the inside on the passenger side, it does not arm the system.

Get in on the drivers side, lock the doors using the electric lock.
You should see a red blinking light on top of the dash.

If you open the door, the alarm should go off.
Since you don't have a remote, you'll have to start the vehicle to shut it off.

Ok i have the security system but is this the same as you add on from chrysler or is that a better one? The one that you can order and attach to the unlock mechanism or is this the same part? Also what about the low emissions vehicle? Ive seen that on hondas but def not on jeeps.

Nope, the Jeep is def not a LEV and certainly not a ULEV. Those are reserved for cars that get crazy high mpg's.

Ummmmmm if you start the jeep it will just turn off by itself. The more you try to start it the faster it will turn off after say 3 tries then it won't start at all. You have to have a pretty cheap alarm if it doesn't.

Go to http://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/select.htm and put in your Jeep...it scores a 2 and a 3 (out of 10, 10 being the best and 5 average)...so if it says LEV it has to mean something else or is running on old standards.

So "good alarm systems" do NOT shut off when the original key is put in the ignition?
You HAVE to use a remote?

I haven't tried this but what happens then when it won't start?
How would I get it going?

And there is a difference with an alarm system vs. a security system.

LEV, ULEV and even SULEV have nothing to do with fuel economy they are based on how clean what comes out of the tailpipe is. Most vehicles nowadays are fairly low emmision anyway some are just thirstier than others.
