1998 Grand Cherokee Laredo Stalling

Hey all,

My buddies and I have done our best to keep my baby running. We've done a lot of maintenance work ourselves to save money and because who doesn't love working on their Jeep!

Anyways, recently we've ran into a problem. The Jeep stalls after about 1 mile on a cold start. I will be driving and depress the accelerator pedal but the truck won't react. The RPMs stay no matter how much gas I give it. Then you can hear a small clunk and it will return to normal. It does it about three times but then the RPM will drop real low and the car will jerk and then turn off.

This only happens on a cold start and she turns right back on.

Some things to know about the Jeep: she has a small exhaust leak. She has a transmission fluid leak coming from the radiator. We recently (about a month ago) replaced all spark plugs and the distributor cap. The Jeep has 156,000 miles on it. No check engine light.

So... What do you guys think is going on?!

Thanks!
