1998 Grand Cherokee distributor issue

first off let me start by saying hello to the forum,

this is my second GC the first was a 97 limited black and gold trim, with only 85,000 miles. sadly she is no longer with us.
However, they both have the 4.0 i6

but i picked up a 98 larado with 222,000 miles for 1000 bucks, not a bad buy, but it needs a lot of work but nothing major

so my issue at the moment is a distributor is going bad(the bearings are going bad) but can i use a 97 distributor on a 98 with i use a the rotor from the 97?

so basicly i want to use a 97 distributor with the rotor from the 97

ps. i did search the forum for about this for about 3 days and found nothing so thanks in advance

all 4.0ho(what those are) distributors are exactly the same. the only change is the connector for the cam position sensor. just use the one from the 98 to be sure.

it should take about 20 minutes to do the swap.

'97 zj 5.2, some stuff, some other suff, and some things that even work sometimes.

a new cam sensor isn't that expensive...and never use a parts store cam sensor anyways.

what's wrong with the cam sensor on the 98 that you can't use it? the ROTOR BUTTON is exactly the same though...

All year 4.0ho distributors are the same. Cam sensors may have different connectors, cap and rotor are the same.
I can't be any clearwe.
