1998 Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited V8 Help?

Hey all my name is Jonathon, I recently got this vehicle only thing wrong at the moment is needs a new lock for passenger back and the tailgate new handle, lock, etc. other than that I need new speakers for the 2 front doors they are both blown. Only problem I have is I bought new ones and they don't fit. Now I keep hearing different things that the speakers a 6 1/2 and other people say 6 3/4 so I need to know which one's I need. If anyone has any clue as to what brand the stock one's are or can point me towards them that would make it easier then buying new one's that I probably have to drill holes. BTW if you ask if I have the inifinity system I have no clue I see at least 4 speakers, 2 in front and 2 upper back, then I also see the 4 tweeters, I'm not sure if there are any other's so can someone please help me out.

The 98 Limited came with an Infinity System. The speaker covers say that if you have them. Can't you measure the old speakers? I need one for my Limited & keep looking in wrecking yards for one.

Well I took the driver speaker out and it has no writing anywhere not on the speaker or on the cover so I wasn't sure and I only count 4 speaker's and 4 tweeter's when I look in my jeep but everywhere says there should be 10 so IDK, but I guess they are the inifinity one's just gonna have to find them somewhere.

Oh and I did measure it, but what'ss confusing is it 6 1/2 but with the 3 tabst that extend for the screws make it a 6 3/4 so I'm just gonna try to get stock one's.

I don't have a 98, but I just replaced all my speakers in my 94 with the Infinity system. Go to www.crutchfield.com for a list of components that will fit. The door speakers are 6 3/4 from the factory, but 6 1/2 will fit with adapters, or could fit if you were to just redrill mounting holes much closer to the door mounting opening. You do need to pay attention to speakers information though, unless the Infinity systems changed, they all used 2 ohm components. Most regular components on store shelves are 4 ohm, and will sound like garbage unless they are run in parallel. I just replaced my speakers with Infinity 6022i's, and I must say that I'm quite impressed with sound coming from them compared to the stock speakers.

Are you only counting the tweeters on the door speakers? Or are you counting the 2 in the dash?

The 2 in the dash, there isn't any on the doors, all i see is the 2 in the dash, the speaker speakers in the doors, and then the 2 speakers in the back wiht the tweeters next to them. I went to crutchfield they said 6 3/4 but everyone keeps telling me 6 1/2 that's why I'm confused, I'm looking to get get the stock ones for now unless I find something.

The Infinity 6022i's are 6 1/2s, I haven't had anything else in the ZJ yet, and don't plan to for along time. These definitely sound great, and for the price I paid for them, they're even better. Just a quick Google search turned up some for as low as $43 for a set. I looked on eBay forever and bought all 4 for just over $60 shipped. Look around and you can always pick up stereo equipment for cheap.

The 6.5" 6022Is will fit without problem you do not need any mounting system, maybe a drill for custom holes so it fits perfect if you want. I have them in my 98ZJ and my 93ZJ.

The 6022Is come with adaptor rings. You have 10 speakers. 4 in the sound bar, 1 in each door & the 2 dash tweeters.

6,5" speakers in the front and REAR doors. Fronts are component with the tweets in the dash. Rear doors are choax and the soundbar should be woofers. That equals 10 speakers.

They are shallow mount speakers with 3 mounting tabs instead of the industry standards of 4 or 6.

I am reviving an old thread for Infinity. What speakers work best in terms of install and sound for the ZJ sound bar and front tweets?
