I'll be doing this to my Jeep soon, I think I'll be using the eBay crystal lights though. I don't really like the black housings or the sunk in lens but that's just an opinion.

Definitely doing this to my CBR though, It uses a single hi/low H4 bulb so just 1 of these projectors should be really quite awesome on it.

see i love the fact and enginutiy that people have to make projector retro fits but sorry clear lenses on a zj look like **** personally thats one reason i havent bothered trying yet there was a guy who just sanded down a 2x2 section on his orginal lense and retrofited the projector i dont remeber seeing any pics of the cut off line but thats probably what ill do
This isn't a bad idea, Didn't even think of the fact I could probably make mine clear lenses if I wanted haha.

That's definitely an idea, Jon. Other things I am looking at are:

I'm going to pick up 2 stock lenses and sand down the center of them to the size of the holes on my setup. I'll see how well the output turns out. If the cutoff and output are not diminished, that may be the way to go. I'll post any progress shots.

Well I took a pic to show how wavy it came out on me, you can see how distorted the piece of paper is. The paper is laying flat on the desk

Have you shown a beam through it yet to see if any output disturbances exist? It looks okay for the most part. What'd you use to sand it down?

I didn't take a picture but I did try it. The beam was not up to my standards and even the light output was diminished. Though that may been because that was my OEM 17 year old lens is still a little yellowed even after cleaning it up lol.

I say try it with the expectation to need different lights lol.

Also I used a 3" rotary sander. I was going to use the orbital but I didn't have enough control over it to make a nice circle. Even with the masking tape around the area I still was tearing off the tape with the orbital. The orbital would sand more evenly though.

I bought the Gforce ones for my FXR retrofit. The only thing bad about them is they're held together with some nasty grey glue, hard as hell to get off. Like a combination of super glue and silly putty. Cook them in the oven and they come apart nicely. Plan on spending a couple of hours getting the crap out of the grooves and lens.

Light shouldn't be diminished because of a frosted lense if anything the beam might be blurry as **** but shouldn't cut the light out

It will vary depending on each individual lens used. The fluting pattern is different for each vehicle. Some examples:

I would like to see someone try it with a ZJ. Preferably a new housing with a whiter lens that hasn't been oxidized.

So I am happy with the output of my current setup, but I want better aesthetics. I figured while I am at it, I might as well just upgrade the whole setup. Currently I have custom housings made with the OE reflector housing (Painted flat black) and custom Lexan lenses with VHT. I have a 35 watt, 4300K, VVME HID kit. I also have the MH1 3.0's in there.

So for the new setup I ordered...

-MH1 4.1's (Thanks Matt @ TRS! - Will be here Thursday)
-50/55 watt VVME HID kit - 4300K (Will be here Friday)
-Crystal Clear Headlight Housings (Will be here Wednesday):

I guess there was this thing on the Subaru forums about putting in special requests in the comments section. So a guy requested a picture of a robot fighting a Ninja, in good spirits TRS accepted the request and responded with this picture.

I suggested the Ninja should be their mascot. It might actually happen LOL

Hahah that's awesome. Those guys are super nice. Love working with 'em.

I'm thinking the end result will be somewhat similar to this but I have a different shroud, and the projector lens is going to look black, not clear:
