1997 ZJ 4.0 Dana 44a swap driveshaft help.

I have been reading a lot of forums and I can't find a definite answer on my driveshaft question. I understand that the dana 44a rear that I have came out of a 1998 5.9 and I would need 1310-1330 u joint and my driveshaft will need to be shortened. I have a 3.5" lift and what I am trying to find out is if I use a v8 drive shaft will that work or do I have to shorten my 4.0 driveshaft. I am trying to do this without any drive line modifications. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By the way hi this forum is very helpful. Thank you.

Trying to do what without any driveline modifications? Swapping in a D44a sounds like a driveline modification to me. If it were me I would swap the axle side yoke to a 1310, measure the required driveshaft length, then take your existing driveshaft to a shop and have them lengthen/shorten as necessary.

I just swapped in a D44a out of a 5.9, at 4.5" of lift I didn't have to shorten the drive shaft at all.
