1997 Jeep grand cherokee transmission ident.

Help! I am trying to find out what type transmission I have in my jeep grand cherokee. It is a 6 cylinder, and it is either a 42RH or a 42RE. can anyone tell me where to find out which one it is. I am adjusting the bands and need to find out how many turns to back off. thank in advance Michael

another way for you to confirm Michael;

42RE transmission pans are relatively shallow and have a
downward bulge stamped into the right side of the bottom of the oilpan,

42RH transmission pans are deeper and are flat on the bottom.

all 1995 and later 6 cyl models were equipped with 42RE so i'd say SH8FT nailed it!
