Sentry key wasn't introduced till 99, are you sure you have a zj?

'97 zj 5.2, some stuff, some other suff, and some things that even work sometimes.

Just a throw it out there comment,mopar offered an EVS security system as a dealer add on. In the older models it was a EVSI and in later ones a EVSII. Maybe its an early version? I have a almost complete EVSII system in a box but it doesn't have a "key". Does have a shock sensor though. It lacked the module harness which mopar in all the wisdom sold seperately and is no longer available.

looks like an aftermarket alarm system to me.

looks like the evs system wasn't introduced till sometime right around 06. and that's not it. looks like an old school system with one of those jumper keys that disables the ignition/fuel when you pull it out.

'97 zj 5.2, some stuff, some other suff, and some things that even work sometimes.

Rat did you mean 96? Mine is a 98 and it its the correct part number for a 98.
