The blower motor is the large black "box" under the passenger dash. It's a very easy fix. I can honestly say that was one of the first repairs I ever did on my own

Could also be the climate control unit itself, but that wasn't the case for me.

Mine did the same thing on my 97 4.0.
It was a loose connection on the switch. I removed the dash pieces, then the switch module piece....pressed on the back of each switch and it started working. ( after I had already removed the blower motor....duh !)

Does it work on HI speed only? If so, perhaps bad blower motor resistor (non-ATC), bad blower motor power module (ATC).

How do I get the two screws out that hold the power module in place. One came out pretty easy although very hard to see and the one closets to the engine compartment I can not see at all ( I can only feel it). Its this second screw that I can get out....... Help!

I used a mirror, small led flashlight, gorilla tape and a screwdriver bit holder and short extension on a 1/4" ratchet. Position the mirror so you can see the screw, gorilla tape the mirror to the underside of the dash to light up the area (aim the beam at the mirror) then use the ratchet and bit holder to get the screw out.

Needs parts?
