Nope.

All ZJs with the AWD case are 249s, all of them have a viscous coupler. There is a slight difference in the design of the system between the early- and late-model 249s though, '96-'98 being the better of the two.

All 249's have a VC. I have never had binding or hopping from a CV joint. Probably because I noticed it was going bad way before that could happen. Just clicks and pops. All 249 equipped ZJ's had CV shafts.

Half shafts, not drive shafts

I was indeed talking about the axles. CV drive shafts weren't used until mid 95ish give or take.
