1993 jeep grand cherokee tranfer case code???

i know there is probably a thread on this already but im in a bind and don't have time to go searching just need a quick answer.

im new to jeeps so i have no clue but my transfer case exploded today driving on the high way and i cant find the stamp with the code anywhere in the shrapnel. so if someone can give the code it would be greatly appreciated.

it is a 1993 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo.
Thanks!

There should be a red metal tag on the back/top of your transfer case which lists the model number. It also helps to post what size engine you have on your 93.

NP 231-2wd,4 part time,4 lo
NP 242-2wd,4 part time,4 full time,4 lo
Np 249- 4 full time,4 lo

Look at your shifter bezel and see if one of the above corresponds with what you have.Of course all cases have neutral too.

Thanks, so have you figured out what transfer case you have by the info on the shifter bezel fljeepney and dnuccio posted above?

What exactly caused it to come apart? On my 242 the top rubber plug fell/blew out of the top which caused the fluid to blow out and I chewed it up before I even knew it. Installed a JY shelf unit after resealing, still wasn't all that cheap, but had about a 60-90 day warranty.
