'04 GC "Very small emissions leak" code
Wifes '04 GC Laredo, bone stock 2wd 4.0 auto. CE Light came on a few weeks ago, I plugged the "diagnoser" in and got 2 codes that read something about "very small emissions/evap leak". I basically ignored them and turned them off, but it came on again this weekend. I plugged in again, and got the same codes. I'm thinking if its a "very small" vacuum leak then I may never find it. I was thinking it may be the gas cap (it's one of those OEM caps that "clicks" before it gets tight, so you really don't know how tight it is) but I doubt very seriously that I'd be that lucky. We haven't noticed any changes in fuel economy, power, etc... Any suggestions? Thanks for all input.

tighten down the gas cap, make it click a few times. The code will be on there for a few start ups (probably about 8 start ups). Thats the first thing to check when you get that code.

I've had this twice so far -- neither time was simply the gas cap.
Both times it was a pinhole leak in one of the lines near the gas tank. I couldn't locate it on my own, but that shop that did apparently used some smoke method.

Most of the time that series of engine codes is tripped by a bad gas cap, so if your 2004 still has the OEM cap, it might be time for a replacement.

Maybe try switching brands of gas. It worked for me.
