'02 Grand Cherokee Lift

I just bought a 2002 Grand Cherokee and was wondering if any one has any experience putting a 2" Budget lift on and what kind of time and money would be involved.

I paid about $130 for the BB and paid $100 for the install at a local tire shop. Alignment was $44 and tires were $500. I used the same shocks but if you have the $ it would be a good time to change them. My BB was made by Daystar.

Drode,

Pungo off-road is the best install place nearby. If you are interested in wheelin that Grand, look at www.nagca.com under Grand Slams and in particular Grand Slam East or GSE. They have a September ride coming up and then the huge ride next spring. There are several WJ Grands in your area.

My front tires rub a little bit when i turn in reverse. I will probably do some minor fender trimming on the bottom part of the front bumper where they rub. I mostly use my jeep for hwy driving but ocassionaly use it for off road. I did trim the plastic sheild in the wheel well where the tire also rubbed. They sure do look good though. I'll try to get some pics on the site soon.

yes, you will rub with the 265/75/16's unless you - A) get wheel spacers (1/4" will do) for your factory wheels, or B) buy wheels with less than a 6" backspacing.

Here's where you'll rub in the front - stupid flap in the front that is easily cut off (like Myrtle did), and on the lower arms

pics -

In the rear, it really depends on the shocks you get...if you go with something like Rancho's where there is no "hard-boot", you'll only rub if you put those rubber dust boots on. If you go with a hard-booted shock (like ARB's OME long travels) you'll rub on the boot.

this is what you'll be sporting with 265/75/16's and a 2.5" lift -

Now you could go with a 235/85/16 tire which will be about an inch narrower than the 265's and will be about a tenth of an inch taller than them.

hey Buddha- Do your front tires rub the front bumper ?? I trimmed the flap but I still get minor rubbing when I am backing up. I noticed you have a 2.5" lift and I only have a 2" lift. Maybe that is part of my problem--

no, they only rub that flap and even then, it is at full turn lock. probably the half an inch difference.
