02 Grand Cherokee (4.7/auto/awd) just died...no juice at all

Earlier in the week when turning the key, nothing happened 2 times...third time it started right up without and problem and had been fine until just now

Driving to dinner....it just cut off...pushed it off to the side, dead as a doornail, no juice at all.

Any ideas or common things to look at?

Have you checked battery voltage?

I bet it is some relay dead. Now the question is which one.

By saying "dead" you mean nothing happens (no lights, no door locks, nothing?), or just that it doesn't crank?

no power whatsoever, no noises, no dash, no interior lights, no anything, it's like the battery isn't in the car, but it is, and it's got a plenty good charge on it.

I guess my question is, where are all of the places that have the ability to just cut all power to the car,

fusible link?
fuse/relay?
ignition switch?

All main relays and fuses are located near the battery in the fuse box, none of the internal ones can cause absolute power loss. There is an IOD fuse that if I remember right may cause this sort of problem. I would check this one first.

if you have another key try using it. if there is a key on the top right of the instrument cluster that is flashing yellow with a cross through it then the sentry key has gone bad.

went over to where we left it last night - still dead as a doornail. Call a tow truck, get it towed to the shop - started right up.

So it is some loose connection- transport caused some vibes that connected it.
Then you have a lot of work with taking every plug, fuse and relay out, cleaning it, and putting together. That sucks... But on the other hand it may be cheap to do.

I was going to suggest the "Auto shutoff relay" to be replaced but since its a total power loss I'd say....Good luck. definitely a loose connection somewhere. Next time you get it running start tugging on wires under the hood, etc. and see where it gives out at. When it shuts off you found your culprit.

left it at the shop so they can still look at it, but nothing looks loose at all.

I tugged on every wiring harness I could and nothing made a difference.
Pulled every fuse and relay (both inside and next to the battery) everything looked good as well.
