01 Wj 4.7L trans problems

Hey guys recently my jeeps trans started acting up. It shifts fine from 1st to 2nd and drives fine but anytime you put the trans selector into D it acts like it's in neutral. Has anyone else had this problem and what is the fix. Like i said it shifts from 1st to 2nd perfectly fine it's only when in D that it acts like its in neutral and slips.

thanks for any advice...

Jason

There are a large number of transmission diagnostic trouble codes that don't turn on the MIL. Check for codes which might indicate something to fix.

There are trouble codes for faulty speed sensors. Are you replacing parts without first retrieving codes????

hey guys finally figured out the problem apparently there was a TSB about the valve body bolts being weak and blowing apart. Jeep sells a kit for $110 comes with new bolts new gasket and a new screen, While i was in there i did a fluid flush and also replaced the filters. The jeep seems to shift fine now and haven't had any other issues with the trans yet so hopefully its fixed.

Thanks for the update.

These guys did a fix for that issue and a nice write up. Should it happen to me, I'll upgrade that part.

This repair doesn't look too insane to tackle on a Saturday.

I did it a couple of months ago. Not really difficult, more messy than anything. The shift kit comes with a stiffer plate to put on there. Make sure you torque those torx bolts properly and use a little lock-tite. Oh, and I put a PML deep pan on there too so I had a drain plug for next time! Make sure you follow the instructions on the shift kit and be careful installing the filter seal in the pump. Soldering the resister was a pain in the *** but doable.
