True, get one with the best warranty.

Even the high dollar parts are worthless if they die within a week.

Same as I suggested in the nearby radiator thread, advance auto has a new water pump (not reman) for about $50 with a lifetime warranty. As long as you keep the receipt, or a photocopy or scan of it, you'll get free replacements if they ever fail.

Buy a QUALITY water pump. NAPA, Car Quest or Dealer. Stay away from the autozones, & advanced remanufactured pump. It sucks to break down somewhere. But hey you have a life time warrenty.. Will they tow your beast out of the woods for you??? QUALITY IS WHAT YOU WANT

Actually, the new water pumps from advance are actually excellent quality. In fact, I've never once seen one come back. Now the remans are a different story, I wouldn't recommend those. But hey, if you want to spend a lot more money for a part that won't be replaced when it fails, that's your call

I've been down the "life Time Warranty" road. It sucks replacing some of these parts yearly. I know parts will wear out and braek. But if the original one lasted 100k miles, I want a replacement that will. Yes I'll spend the extra money on a good part now, and not have a tow bill later.
