Your recommendations for mirrors with doors off

It wasn't my 1st time taking my doors off, but it was my 1st time taking them off and driving somewhere. I noticed the severe lack of side view mirrors and wondered what you dudes used. I only *need* a driver and rear view by state law.

Thanks guys!

This has been asked many times here. And you'll get many different ways of doing it. This is what I have for about ten years now:

http://www.4x4xplor.com/doorless-mirror.html

They vibrate a little, but you can still see, and you're legal. The nice thing is, that you can swing them in, and they are completely out of the way on the trail.

The only thing I would add to them is a castle washer between the top of the bolt and the mirror bar. That will keep them from moving in at highway speeds.

Cheap Harley mirrors fit into the hinge hole and don't vibrate bad.

Depends on how much you plan on going topless and what you want to spend.
I bought the mirror relo brackets and then made stalks to raise the mirror over the door when it opens too far. That little mod came some years after the brackets after I got tired of re-adjusting the mirrors after every time wind caught the soft door.

I put a set of THESE on the upper corners of the windshield because, #1 I don't ever have to take them off, #2 they meet the requirement in CA for having mirrors and #3 they're cheap. Yes they're adjustable.

Here's a link to the thread on what I did. Few bucks at Home Depot, and a cheap set of O'reilly mirror heads. Working great so far.

+ 1 for Harley mirrors.

I ended up buying them new from my local Harley dealer.

Harley mirrors here too.

Ask for "long stem" Harley mirrors.

Places that build bikes are a good place to get used mirrors.

Sweeet. Got a Harley dealership here in Yakima. $25 per mirror. I'll just do the drivers side. Glad it's an easy install.

See if they have takeoffs from where someone "upgraded". You can usually get them for $5-10. I went to a local chopper shop. They had a whole box of them. Which side DOES matter, get left for driver & right for passenger.

I do the same with my 89. Drilled and tapped the hinges to mount just like a CJ. I like the 'old school - look through the windshield to see the passenger side mirror' approach!
