when you look at it in the garage and say to yourself, "I forgot just how nice it looks with the hood down!"

new member here, have had my YJ for a little over a year and every day I'm glad to be driving it over my 03 turbo jetta (put my wife in that, on account of safety for her and our new baby...was the perfect excuse to buy the "old jeep" I've wanted for years).

when you're a relative YJ newb and can still relate to at least half of the posts in this huge thread, especially the "who waves, and who doesn't" posts and admiring the work other YJers on the road have done to their rigs.

when, with absolutely zero automotive repair experience, you can replace the radiator/thermostat, battery cables, and bleed the clutch hydraulics by reading a combination of the YJ forum and the chiltons book. maybe that's just an older-jeep thing, and not specifically a YJ thing...but my buddy's TJ doesn't look nearly as simple to work on.

So very true!!!!

My two cents:

When your the only one in the world who can say something negative about your rig!!!!

You start to worry when it stops leaking

You have truely defined the meaning of a love hate relationship

You relized your Jeep was manufactured when you were listening to Duran Duran and waering Parachute pants stoned out of your mind wondering how this thing is still on the road

... you find something "in" the windshield frame that doesn't belong there.

Don't think I've seen this one yet: found an old can opener laying in the bottom of the windshield frame, right next to the arm assembly that moves the wiper on the driver's side. I'd just flopped the windshield down to pull the dash. The opener must have relocated itself years ago when somebody placed it up on the dash and it fell behind, down, and "into" the windshield. It's pretty cool, has the regular lip to open bottles, and a "prybar" lip to open the old-style Pop-Top cans. The other end has a key ring--- guess somebody forgot to put this on his/her keys.

Your girlfriend gets sea sick due to the "rough and bumpy ride" on a flat evenly paved street.

Imagine how she would feel going on a trail! Lol.
