pretty much any filter will work. you're just venting the case so pressure doesn't build up so it just needs to a) filter any incoming air so you don't contaminate the oil with dust, etc and b) act as a baffle to keep the oil from coming out with the air. those filters are using NPT threads so you'll still have to adapt them to the plug threads. also, grainger doesn't sell to the public last i knew, you have to be a business. you can always try McMaster-Carr or MSC supply though once you know the grainger part number.

So, I recieved the filter from Grainger today. It looks like it will work great. I could have gotten the next smaller sizea and been fine, Oh well. Now my dilema is where to find an adapter to go from the York case to the filter. According to the York manual the oil plug threads are 3/8" - 24 UNF and the threads on the filter are 3/8" NPT. Any one have suggestions of where to find such an adapter?

PS If anyone else wants these filters I can get them. Shipping was $4.89 for the $3.19 part, go figure

go back a few posts, i covered adapting the threads. you can get the -3 AN fitting to adapt to a couple different sizes of NPT's so you should be able to adapt to the 3/8 size. if not directly, then just grab a reducing bushing once you get to the NPT size.

I received my check valve and coelesant filter in the mail a few days ago. I'll let you know how they work when I put them on. I'm waiting on ARB parts as well...so I'll check it all at the same time.

Thought I'd throw pics of what mine looks like, I did put the coelesant filter and check valve in, still haven't mounted the tank yet, hard to make time to play. The small line feeds up to a gauge mounted in the dash.

Here is my setup, have to finish the tank mount, and paint it. Other then that it is done. I just re-plumbed it with brake line because I was blowing out hoses. (Cheap hose) and the brake line looks more finished. Mine is the medium sized York (freebie) 8 CFM IIRC.

I started with the tank on the fender under the hood, didn't like it - cramped the engine bay. Then I moved it underneath and didn't like that either for safety reasons -- worried about punctures at high pressure. So to the rear wheel well it went.

Need to finish mounting the lines to the frame permanently, and put on the intake filter, might try to find a way to vent the case like mentioned above.

I HIGHLY recommend making the plugs for the QD's as they like to get packed with road grime, sand and mud.

here are some vids before I replumbed it... (pressure switch is jumped to the battery, toggle switch isn't hooked up yet) this is very impressive, keeps up with my air chisel AND my Impact, if I bumped it up off idle I am sure the VERY minimal drop off I see would go away. -- keep in mind this is the MEDIUM sized York -- 8CFM IIRC

OK
I finally got the little filter put into the crank case. At the same time i added a coalesing (sp) filter that has a little sight window. last time i used my air pre filter is was getting a shower from all the oil spraying out. now with the filter in the crank case I dont even get any oil in the coalesing filter. It's great. So, moral of the story is, if you don't want oil everywhere, vent your crank case. and the coalesing filter couldn't hurt either.

A full size cherokee and an XJ are not the same animal.

I didn't see this anywheres. What did you and up using for an adapter for the filter. I was thinking about using a die to turn
down an 1/8" NPT Street elbow and mounting my filter to that.
