Jeep parking ONLY

I plan to do this in the distant future.
When I do, I'll be using my high idle solenoid to bump the power going to the compressor when its clutch kicks in. I'm idling at 900rpm - hi idling at 1500. I dont recall what your fuel delivery system is...but you could do something similar if you felt the need.

I just used a throttle lever mounted on my shifter to raise the rpms up.. this way even when i am using my winch i can bump the throttle up as not to put too much of a strain on my batteries, Even thou i am running dual optima deep cyce batteries..

When the clutch kicks in.....I barely notice it. The high idle would only be needed on rare occasions with air tools. Airing up tires.....idle was more than enough to air up my 42's with no trouble at all. |

Hey Tomb,
I like your setup, but im curious (as i tried searching, and can't find much anywhere), why not run a stock GM A/C unit? I know the York outputs a bit more air, but it would be alot cheaper to use the stock GM unit as it already has the right pullys, brackets...etc. I have a 92 TBI 350 that has the stock AC unit on it, and wondering if that would work...Any thoughts? |

Another tank location.
I put my air tank under the battery tray, and secured it in place with large hose clamps.
The tank is from a Kenworth truck's air horn system and is about 18 inches long and about 8 inches around (2 gallons?), two connectors(in/out). It holds enough air to operate the air lockesr(f/r) about a dozen times each, will recharge in about 3 to 5 seconds. It also is big enough to take the cycling edge off the compressor itself, which already runs a bit hot. ![]() My oba...not a york, but the same idea... ![]() ![]() |

OK, I have been looking into the "oil fix" and i have come up with a couple of options. It seems that the guys in the the CJ forum have been kicking this around, too. They have come to the conclusion that venting the crank case is the best way to stop oil from blowing into your system and that it still allows the head to be lubricated. Does any one have experience with this? How does it work? Pics would be great.

the guys on the S10 forum have said much the same thing. best way to vent the case is via the fill plug. i have mine setup with a Ford fuel filter that one of the guys on the S10 forum came up with. the filter has a 1/8" NPT thread on one end so it's an easy thread on part. to get it to match the 3/8"-24 fine threads of the fill plug i used a -3 AN fitting from summit racing (a good part store will have these as well). the -3 fitting has the same 3/8"-24 threads on one side and adapts the other end to 1/8" male NPT. a 90° female x female elbow connects the two to keep the vent low profile. you can see the whole thread here http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f125/let-your-york-edc-breath-253595/ and post 26 has a pic. IIRC he found a different adapter, but the AN fitting worked fine for me. double check your fill plug threads though before ordering as I've heard a few guys say that they had 3/8" course threads on theirs which would require a different adapter. the ford filter comes from a whole bunch of different vehicles and was like 4 bucks. i asked for one for a 77 bronco (only one engine size) and it came up no problem.

Sentinal02,
So, your setup looks like the one on the s10 forum. Did you notice a big change in the amount of oil being blown out? Do you get oil coming out of the filter? BTW thanks for the pictures. |

i haven't had a chance to install it since i've done the vent. i can snap a pic of mine, but it's pretty much identical to the one on the s10 board. I was running the york in my 88 and now i have the 92 so i'm in the process of converting my brackets and the york over to the serpentine setup. i did try it both with and without the oil mod when it was in the 88 and didn't see much of an improvement even after adding the set screw which is why i went in search of other solutions.

I found these "filters" http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/itemDetailsRender.shtml?ItemId=1611626466 being talked about on another forum. Do y'all think they would work? They would be really easy to put on
