Hi guys, I have YJL (stretched YJ) and wanted to put a factory soft top from Unlimited TJ (LJ). Anyone knows the correct measurements of the unlimited TJ body from the door to tail?
I'm not sure if anyone makes them aftermarket. Might try calling any jeep related places in Egypt? However if you want a hard top, I've heard that they're very close if not to the same as a scrambler... don't quote me on it though! 😂
Thanks guys, am trying to do a little customization at the back for it to fit TJ (unlimited) version of soft top. but before that I would love to have TJu measurements..
Oh my god!!!! I want one. It would be nice to have a chance to buy many of the export only Jeeps that have been made over the years. Many awesome Jeeps out there.
The door surrounds can be adapted but the over all width is narrower on the LJ... The width at the tail gat is the same... The length at the bed rail I will check when I hit home... I have an Lj top with a frame for sale... Almost new with tint... Frameless tops look cool but are generally a looser fit and flap around...
Large sheetmetal stamping dies are ridiculously expensive to produce.
The YJL was a factory produced vehicle. The tub was made with newly stamped side panels made from the old scrambler dies (with slight changes around the wheel opening perhaps) and the YJ end gate panel welded on it. No big deal and huge savings on tooling.
That makes it a unique YJL tub, but it has that same dimensions along the side that the CJ8 had
Wow great article. I never knew jeeps were made elsewhere. Man we need to form a group and go to egypt a buy a bunch of unusual jeeps. That would be very cool.
