YJ'er Going to the 'Dark Side'?
Hey Guys,
Just thought some of you YJ'ers may be interested in this: I recieved a 1947 CJ-2A from my father as a gift, it has been his for many years, but I have not seen it since I was maybe 3 or 4,(I am now 19) I remember little details about it, i.e. the Miller Genuine Draft cut in half and used as a gas cap. I can't wait to embark on this project, I don't know much about CJ's, so it'll be a learning experience. I will most definitely keep the YJ as a DD, because, well, the other one is a CJ-2A, and we dont have a top for it, or doors, if I recall, and you need those SOMETIMES in New England. Anyway, anybody else own both a CJ and a YJ, or just have any comments about CJ's? I put this in the YJ section b/c I wanted to know what YJ'ers had to say, btw. -Joe

Dude,
CJ's aren't the dark side--I think that is great. I would love to build up a 40's or 50's Jeep some day. When I was shopping for my Jeep I originally wanted a CJ but I couldn't find one in my price range that wasn't a rusted out piece of cr@p. So I got a YJ. Did someone say Miller Genuine Draft? Now I'm thirsty for beer. Rock on--and post pics. Drew

I'm thinking of the same thing. My YJ days may be nearing an end. I need a pickup truck and can't afford to insure two cars.
I'm looking at picking up an M38A1 I found for sale locally 12,000 original miles. $1,000 floors are rotted out but the rest of the body/frame is clean with the original paint. It sat in a schools maintence shed and plowed about three times a year. I can get classic insurance on it once I weld floors in it, clean it up, and paint it. That will by my take the top off cruise around town topless on nice weekend vehicle. Then I'm thinking about getting a busted *** CJ7 for under $1,000 that still has a good driveline and frame. I'm going to put a plow on that and just register/insure it for the worst three months of the winter. |

I'm going to go look at a CJ-5 in the morning, so I may be picking up my second jeep.

hahaha, yea, I put dark side in the title just because it seemed like it would catch more people's attention. Thanks for all the positive feedback, I am going home next weekend, so I will be sure to drag it out and take some pictures.
