I went with the Monroe's because that is what O Rilley's had.
My old shocks were dead and these seem to work just fine for my needs.

Found that the front shocks will work for a tj as well. We just needed to swap out the bottom bushings/mount.

I will find out tomorrow of the rears will work too. I'm testing them out on my buddys Jeep since all his shocks are junk.

I did a little research, and I am using a set of Gabriels from a Ford (rears from a 4x4 F150) as front shocks in my '94 YJ. I'm running 3.5" springs with 1/2" boom shackles, and so far so good. I haven't checked full flex, but ride is comparable with my stock springs and shocks.

I did a lot of internet searches, and was able to find a Gabriel shock that had comparable specs to the (length, travel, etc) shocks found in most 4" lifts. Now, I did intentionally go with a cheap shock just in case I ran into any problems, that way I wouldn't be out much. In fact, I think I'm into the pair for less than $30 shipped.

Ashland, in your search was the 82147 for the rear (off the 74 f250) the only one you found that would work?
I have advance, autozone, oriellys, napa, carquest and a noname parts store and none of them have it, or can even get it for 4 days.
I kinda need a today solution lol

Sorry, that's the only one. my friend and I both had to wait about 3 days for the rears.

I just found an advance that has them in a half hour away, guess Ill be driving! Thanks for the reply.

PS did you say you ran these before you lifted? all i have is 1" body, and 6" shackles (+1") just wondering if these are gonna bottom out before the bumpers hit

I think I know the answer from reading this entire thread but...

Just to make sure, this shock setup should work with my 2" lift?

I have a 6" shackle lift on my '87 YJ (how I got it from PO) but I'm not sure if it's stock shocks or not but this thread caught my eye. Would this shock swap give me more flex or give me a crazy dangerous ride? Still new to jeeps but all the posts I've seen in this thread don't mention shackles as large as mine.
